Five Card Draw
Five card draw is unlike other versions of poker in that it is not similar at all to how Texas Hold ‘Em, a popular version of the game, is played. This version of poker can involve anywhere from three to seven players and proves to be significantly different than many other poker variations available for play. People who are interested in playing five card draw will find the rules to be seemingly complex, and they can be for people who are not familiar with the game. However, they are fairly easy to pick up on and to learn once put into practice. Learning the Rules of the Game Initially, five cards out of the deck are dealt face down to each player. After this first deal, each player places a bet. At this point the rules of the game seem quite different than those of other poker games that have been discussed. After this first round of betting, the players may all exchange up to three cards before betting again. This is considered the final round of betting before the showdown. At this point if the game is comprised of less than six players, the players may each draw four cards if their remaining card is an ace. The highest remaining hand at the end will win the game, but there are other variations of the five card draw game that people can play. These include high – low and low ball games. Players can also participate in a double-draw game. It is of course important to learn the differing rules among the variations before participating in play. Five card draw can be a fun change of pace for players who are used to playing games similar to Texas Hold ‘Em. Since this version of the game differs significantly from other poker games, novices to the game need to be familiar with the rules before beginning game play. Although the basic rules of the game have been explained, players should be familiar with the nuances and more minute rules before betting large amounts of money. |
